I spent last weekend cleaning my house and finally hanging pictures on the walls. I have some photos of that process to share with you, but it’s so chilly in my part of the Midwest today that I can’t resist sharing some warm fall projects. We’re supposed to get our first frost tonight! It’s supposed to warm up a little again this weekend so we’re trying to put off turning on our heater but I don’t think I’m going to last. The house is just way too cold when we wake up in the morning.
I’m hoping to spend this fall and winter working on some little DIY projects to add some warmth and character to our house. One of the first things I’d like to knock out is a new headboard!
I love this lightup headboard that I found via TheSoho. Our master bedroom has dark grey walls with a black and creme comforter and I think the softlight from the Christmas lights behind the sheer fabric would be beautiful.
Our old headboard was a DIY upholstered headboard that I really loved. It was so comfortable to lean against. I think I’d like to try something like that again using a tutorial like this one at The House of Wood.
I really like the look of upholstered headboards that have some detailing on the side that envelope the bed like Carrie and Big’s bed in Sex and the City 2.
As an aside, you guys, I have a confession. I watched Sex and the City 2 twice this weekend while Kyle was gone. I haven’t even seen 20% of the episodes of the series but for some reason I’ve watched it’s worst feature TWICE in just a few days. I just absorb terrible tv in the background while Kyle is gone. Terrible. I’m glad I have you guys to admit things to. You’re a very supportive crowd.
Whew. Glad I got that off my chest. So where were we? Oh yes. Headboards. I really like Big and Carrie’s and having done the upholstered headboard thing once already I think I could pull it off again with a little more complex headboard design. And maybe the lights above it? I’ll let you know how it goes with pictures and tutorials!
First, it’s back to weatherproofing the front door and kicking ourselves that we always wait until it’s so cold to do it…
