I’m so obsessed with summer! I just want to live outside. I’m also getting really excited for the Olympics this year and that’s making me reminisce about all of those World’s Fairs that fell out of fashion before I was born. I’ve seen some of their remnants: the giant museums in Chicago, the Space Needle, the Eiffel Tower. I’ve even presented about them at the Pop Culture Association annual conference in 2009, but I feel like I still don’t quite understand the grandeur. So, I’ve explored etsy for some great photographs and other decor finds.

1. Decayed Observation Towers at the World’s Fair by AstrOdub on Etsy; 2. 1904 St Louis World’s Fair Map Print on Parchment by apageintime; 3. Wonderful Chicago World’s Fair Rare Book 1893 by silknparachute; 4. ferris wheel squared carnival print carnival by ZilaLongenecker; 5. Vintage sign home decor red arrow ferris wheel teal by bomobob; 6. Coney Island Photography Wall Decor Carnivale 10×10 by minagraphy.

I love the decayed observation towers print. The colors are so wonderful and it’s really artistic without being inaccessible. The ferris wheel print has some beautiful colors, too, the Coney Island photograph is gorgeous — and it’s enjoyed a lot of attention on the Internet and in magazines so hopefully it continues to be available.

7. Vintage Ferris Wheel Seat Settee / Refurbished by imrtforannemarie; 8. PREORDER World’s Fair Hot Air Balloon Charm by HeartworksByLori; 9. Carnivale Bright Red Glass Copper Earwires Etsy by DornickDesigns; 10. Carnivale Natural Hand Blended Lip Balm by CuriousLondon on Etsy; 11. Vintage 1982 World’s Fair Coin Purse by catfromwhere on Etsy; 12. 1939 NY World’s Fair Souvenir Charm Bracelet by Happihouse on Etsy; 13. 1962 Seattle World’s Fair cardboard SPACE NEEDLE by gasolinealley; 14. Music Box Ferris Wheel The Majestic by Enesco by rknaynay on Etsy; 15. VINTAGE EXPO 74′ World’s Fair Spokane USA by theBlackSeavintage.

Oh my! That vintage ferris wheel seat settee is pretty brilliant. I will be vigilantly on the lookout for my very own ferris wheel seat forever now. It’s such a great idea and would really add some fun to any room.

I’m also obsessed with the hot air balloon charm. How sweet!

I couldn’t resist all of the vintage ephemera from World’s Fairs, or the gorgeous “The Majestic” music box. Its photos aren’t so great on that wood panel background, but I really suggest you click through and give it a peek. It’s so pretty.
