Good afternoon! I’m finally trying to lounge this flu away after working a half day. Luckily, my fever was down this morning and didn’t start to climb back up until after my final obligation for the day. Given my current condition, I’m really into relaxing tones.

I was planning on doing a neutral palette for today’s tea party because I picked up this beautiful teapot on clearance at Pier 1 on Monday.

Most of my teapot collection is vintage — except for one elephant teapot that’s from the Calypso St. Barth for Target collection — but this Sahara Teapot really caught my eye. It has such elegant lines and coloring and I love that the lid doesn’t have a stem. So today’s neutral palette is inspired by my new teapot and features the color peach!

I love the peach sari. Etsy, it turns out, is swimming with beautiful saris and they seem to range between $18 – $25. That’s not an unaffordable price when you consider how expensive retail scarves seem to be these days.

I can’t get enough of the light pink peach ceramic vase. It’s a gorgeous color and appears to be in great condition.

A Rainy Day Party

We have been having the best rainy weather this week. It rained pretty much non-stop from Monday at noon until last night. Right now it’s not even that cloudy, but we’re supposed to get another round of rain tonight and into tomorrow. I am loving it!

I decided to let myself be inspired by the break from the wonderfully warm spring and celebrate the greys and blues in the air right now.

I also think a rainy day is the perfect time for a cup of tea so I brought back our tea party them with the beautiful vintage turquoise teapot from clementine and nellie. It would be a really nice surprise of color under the fuzzylogicfelt tea cozy that is really beautiful and modern. I love the simple design, the unique shape, and the classic charcoal and white pallette.

I have lots of little favorites in this treasury.  StEphaniDunn’s grey, black, and white fleece bandana blanket is really cozy without being too heavy. The felt flowers from berryisland are a great bright take on robins egg blue — and they look really beautiful paired with the gray and coral vases. All of Kindred Spirit’s throw pillows are beautiful. You should really go check out the shop!

I’ve surely mentioned that I’m seasonally color inspired to a fault and it’s so close to spring that I’m starting to merge out of my greys and neutrals this winter into soft spring pastels. I especially can’t get enough of the super trendy mint!

Today’s treasury is a simple party mood board to coax spring out of hiding for good.

Rather than go for a mint overload, I’ve brightened it up with some buttercups like the chestnut paper origami lampshade which is bordering on my favorite discovery. I also love the say please and thank you napkin, the mint and ivory bracelet and that melamine bicycle plate.

I’m feeling pretty girly today. Maybe it’s because I have the house to myself this weekend so I’m planning on really cleaning it and then enjoying movies, tv shows, and meals I like by myself. Whenever I’m feeling like girly is great, I always lean toward Hollywood Regency styles and gold! Gold? More like gold gold gold and pink.

First, checkout this gorgeous Vintage Sadler Gilded Teapot by deNovoVintage.

Clearly, this party inspiration is starting off on the right foot!

I love it! But what is it about Hollywood Regency that’s so expensive? I think it just looks fancy. I did my best to keep things around $20 and what I couldn’t resist got shoved to the top to set the inspiration for the party. I know it isn’t strictly Hollywood Regency but I think it all looks great together. The detail of the foot in the bottom row is a trash can! You should definitely check it out because it’s maybe my favorite affordable thing in the treasury and it’s only $15. Such a steal!

This is the mildest winter in this part of the country that I remember experiencing. I am loving it! Well, most of it. I’m kind of tired of the dreary colors which may explain the bright golds and reds at my New Years Eve party with my friends last weekend. And, it certainly explains this week’s tea party treasury that is founded on the idea that this winter needs some bright colors pushed back into it.

I fell in love with this teapot while poking around Etsy.

The Dandelion Black Tea Pot by soule on Etsy has the dark colors that seem to be part of the winter pallette and even though the dandelion is one of the popular motifs that’s on my played out list, I still really like the look of it a lot. Plus, it’s so bare bones that I think it fits with all of the skeleton trees that define a midwestern winter.

Every party we have around here that isn’t Christmasy can’t be monochrome so let’s bring some brightness back in to a celebration.

I love the vinyl buck trophy head. Unfortunately for the treasury, I can’t select the black or chartreuse version for the photo, but, rest assured, both colors are an option. The vintage elements — a bottle opener and table linen — help to mellow out all of the green a little, as do the prints for the wall and the table runner.

I think the clutches would be a great party favor for guests as would the stainless steel flasks. You could serve a really yummy punch and let guests spike it with the contents of the flasks they could then take home!

How great is the green skirt with the black octopus? Maybe it’s just for me but I feel like Etsy just won and it should pack up and go home because it’s not going to get any better. If anyone is looking for a good surprise for any upcoming holiday… I would totally wear that to a party or to work or to go grocery shopping. I love the cut and it’s so fun.

I’m wearing my favorite winter sweater today. It’s a really deep purple with a really warm but comfortably loose neckline, somewhere between a turtleneck and a cowle. I got it as a Christmas gift last year and I love it! Today’s tea party is all about dark purple, warm natural wood, and christmas spirit. I had a difficult time finding the right teapot for the job. I envisioned something really modern and made of natural wood, maybe square cast iron teapot encased in some kind of sturdy wood, but it appears that I’ll have to design that one if I want it so I opted for this Staub La Theiere instead.

The color is about right and I really like the spout. Plus, I imagine it’s very sturdy. It looks … substantial.

As for the party, I picked out some stockings, a wreath, and a baby blanked to set some ambiance around the room. Next, I opted for some natural wood trees in different styles for centerpieces and a beautiful, large purple scarf decorated with purple mercury glass ornaments as a table runner. At each place setting: a variety of purple stars, white and purple gift tags, and wood gift tags along with a carved wooden christmas ornament each guest can take home.

Most people plan on having a picnic in the summer. Well, not here in Austin. I can only have a picnic if I want every single thing that I bring along to turn to a melted mush within like three minutes. Okay, maybe it’s not that bad but it’s just too damn hot. Anyway, now that it’s winter I’m really wanting to take a picnic under the pretty falling leaves and cool weather. That sounds like fun. So perhaps this is quite an odd combination of vintage and teaprty and picnic and holiday, but I can dig it.

The first time I wrote a tea time post, I showed my beloved Hall tea pot. When I came across this pretty mid-century Hall teapot on Etsy, I knew it had to be the main inspiration for my treasury. It just screams Christmas cheer to me.

I envision this Happy Holidays tin to be what holds the tea. Isn’t it cute?

So go have yourself a vintage, green and red, holiday tea party picnic.
